Telemetry Float Pool – RN

Position Overview

Join the telemetry float pool for a 12-hour night shift role. You'll provide care to acute patients across telemetry and med-surg units, managing complex medical and post-surgical cases with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 4:1 to 5:1.

Shift & Schedule

  • Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 12 hours
  • Schedule: Every other weekend
  • Contract: 13 weeks
  • Hours: 36 hours per week guaranteed
  • Floating: Yes, to med-surg and telemetry units as needed

Patient Population & Clinical Scope

You'll care for patients with conditions including ETOH intoxication, DKA, heart failure, sepsis, stroke, and post-operative GI, GU, and orthopedic surgery patients. You'll manage telemetry monitoring, read your own strips, and work alongside monitor technicians and nursing aides.

Key Responsibilities

  • Titrate IV drips: insulin, heparin, amiodarone, cardizem
  • Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to changes
  • Provide direct patient care within your assignment
  • Collaborate with charge nurses and support staff

Requirements

  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Minimum 2 years telemetry/stepdown experience
  • RN license (active in California)
  • Ability to read cardiac strips and interpret monitor data

Unit Resources

Charge nurses, monitor technicians, and nursing aides support the team. Equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen.

Cancellation Policy

The facility may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
