Med/Surg RN — Acute Care Surgery Unit | Lubbock, TX

Day Shift | 13-Week Contract

This is a great opportunity for a Med/Surg RN to join a newly opening acute care surgery, trauma, and emergency general surgery unit. The facility is actively building this team, and first-time travelers with at least one year of experience are welcome to apply.

Shift & Schedule

• Days: 3×12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Weekends: 6 shifts per 6-week period
• No on-call required
• Self-scheduling
• Holiday commitment required: must work 3 of 5 designated holidays

Clinical Scope

The unit manages adult and geriatric patients presenting with acute surgical needs, emergency general surgery cases, and med/surg overflow. You'll work closely with an interdisciplinary team including IV therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response, and physical therapy.

Required Skills Include:

• BiPAP/CPAP management, high-flow nasal cannula
• Central line and PICC line management
• Tracheostomy care, chest tube management
• Pre/post-op care (neurosurgery, thoracic, bariatric, ortho, total joint)
• Wound care/wound vac, surgical drains, feeding tube management
• Blood product administration, PCA management
• Phlebotomy, IV insertion and maintenance

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of RN experience
• Active RN license (compact license must be in hand at submission)
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS
• Float between acute care/med-surg units required; refusal to float may impact guaranteed hours
