Medical/Surgical Telemetry – Night Shift RN | Maryville, TN
Contract: 13 weeks (with option to extend to 26 weeks)
Shift: Nights, 3×12-hour (18:45–07:15)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
About the Unit
This inpatient med-surg telemetry unit specializes in stroke and TIA care while also managing higher-acuity medical-surgical patients. The team places a strong emphasis on patient experience and is equipped to perform peritoneal dialysis and continuous bladder irrigation.
Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
Common Diagnoses: Stroke/TIA, seizure, syncope, ia, chest pain, dialysis, acute kidney failure, post-heart catheterization, respiratory failure, encephalopathy, CHF, sepsis
Clinical Skills Required
- Telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation
- BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula management
- Blood product administration
- Central line blood draw and PICC line management
- Continuous bladder irrigation and peritoneal dialysis
- Chest tube management, wound care/wound vac
- Cardiac drip management (no titration), heparin, insulin
- PCA, feeding tube care, port access, colostomy/ileostomy care
- Substance withdrawal management
Requirements
- Active Tennessee RN license
- ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications — all required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience; no first-time travelers
- Previous charge nurse experience required
- Travel experience required
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions); COVID-19 vaccine not required
Floating: Required — floats limited to units matching demonstrated competencies.
Orientation: Mondays; pre-assignment modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials (up to 16 hours reimbursable).
