Medical/Surgical Telemetry – Night Shift RN | Maryville, TN

Contract: 13 weeks (with option to extend to 26 weeks)

Shift: Nights, 3×12-hour (18:45–07:15)

Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

About the Unit

This inpatient med-surg telemetry unit specializes in stroke and TIA care while also managing higher-acuity medical-surgical patients. The team places a strong emphasis on patient experience and is equipped to perform peritoneal dialysis and continuous bladder irrigation.

Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics

Common Diagnoses: Stroke/TIA, seizure, syncope, ia, chest pain, dialysis, acute kidney failure, post-heart catheterization, respiratory failure, encephalopathy, CHF, sepsis

Clinical Skills Required

  • Telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation
  • BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula management
  • Blood product administration
  • Central line blood draw and PICC line management
  • Continuous bladder irrigation and peritoneal dialysis
  • Chest tube management, wound care/wound vac
  • Cardiac drip management (no titration), heparin, insulin
  • PCA, feeding tube care, port access, colostomy/ileostomy care
  • Substance withdrawal management

Requirements

  • Active Tennessee RN license
  • ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications — all required
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience; no first-time travelers
  • Previous charge nurse experience required
  • Travel experience required
  • Flu vaccine required (no exemptions); COVID-19 vaccine not required

Floating: Required — floats limited to units matching demonstrated competencies.

Orientation: Mondays; pre-assignment modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials (up to 16 hours reimbursable).
