Med/Surg Telemetry RN — Night Shift | Maryville, TN
Contract: 13 weeks | Shift: Nights, 3×12 (18:45–07:15) | Start: October 5, 2026
This med/surg telemetry unit cares for an adult and geriatric population with a daily census of 15–20 patients. The unit provides interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, rapid response, phlebotomy, and social services.
Clinical Skills & Scope
- IV access and management, PICC and central line care, port access
- Blood product administration, telemetry monitoring
- Post-operative care including total joint replacement and bariatric surgery
- Colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, peripheral nerve block catheter monitoring
- Bowel obstruction management, 23-hour short stay experience a plus
Schedule & Coverage
- Night shift: three 12-hour shifts per week (18:45–07:15)
- Every other weekend required (subject to change based on unit needs)
- Floating to comparable units based on demonstrated competencies may be required
Required Certifications & Licensure
- ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Active TN RN license or compact multistate license
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of med/surg telemetry experience
- Prior travel nursing experience required (no first-time travelers)
- Teaching and community hospital background preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
Additional Details
- Pre-assignment testing and compliance modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials; up to 16 hours of module time is reimbursable
- Orientation held every Monday
- Flu vaccine required; no exemptions accepted
- COVID-19 vaccine not required
