Med Surg Tele

Med/Surg Telemetry RN — Night Shift | Maryville, TN

Contract: 13 weeks | Shift: Nights, 3×12 (18:45–07:15) | Start: October 5, 2026

This med/surg telemetry unit cares for an adult and geriatric population with a daily census of 15–20 patients. The unit provides interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, rapid response, phlebotomy, and social services.

Clinical Skills & Scope

• IV access and management, PICC and central line care, port access
• Blood product administration, telemetry monitoring
• Post-operative care including total joint replacement and bariatric surgery
• Colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, peripheral nerve block catheter monitoring
• Bowel obstruction management, 23-hour short stay experience a plus

Schedule & Coverage

• Night shift: three 12-hour shifts per week (18:45–07:15)
• Every other weekend required (subject to change based on unit needs)
• Floating to comparable units based on demonstrated competencies may be required

Required Certifications & Licensure

• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Active TN RN license or compact multistate license

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year of med/surg telemetry experience
• Prior travel nursing experience required (no first-time travelers)
• Teaching and community hospital background preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred

Additional Details

• Pre-assignment testing and compliance modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials; up to 16 hours of module time is reimbursable
• Orientation held every Monday
• Flu vaccine required; no exemptions accepted
• COVID-19 vaccine not required
