Travel RN – Med/Surg Orthopedics | Night Shift | Maryville, TN

Contract: 13 weeks | Shift: Nights, 3x12 (18:45–07:15) | Start: October 5, 2026

This Med/Surg Orthopedic unit cares for adult and geriatric patients across a range of surgical and medical diagnoses, including total joint replacement, ortho trauma, bariatric surgery, and bowel obstruction cases. The unit operates at a daily census of 15–20 patients and is supported by an interdisciplinary team including IV teams, pharmacy, respiratory services, physical therapy, rapid response, and social services.

Clinical Skills Required:

• Peripheral and central line management (blood draws, PICC line care, port access)
• Blood product administration
• Colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management
• Peripheral nerve block catheter management
• Telemetry monitoring
• Starting and maintaining IVs
• Short-stay/23-hour unit experience (preferred)

Schedule & Float:

• Every other weekend coverage (subject to change based on unit need)
• Floating to like units based on demonstrated competencies may be required

Certifications Required:

• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Licensing:

• Active Tennessee RN license or compact multistate license required

Experience Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year of experience in specialty
• Travel experience required; first-time travelers are not eligible
• Teaching and community hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge experience a plus

Additional Details:

• Flu vaccine required; no exemptions accepted
• Pre-assignment testing and onboarding modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials; up to 16 hours of module time is reimbursable
• Orientation takes place on Mondays
• Extension eligibility: travelers may not extend beyond three consecutive 13-week contracts without a minimum six-month separation
