PCU / Stepdown

IMCU Float Pool RN — Stepdown/Progressive Care | Nights | Boone, NC

This 13-week travel contract is an immediate-start night position (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3x12s) on an Intermediate Medical Care Unit (IMCU) functioning as a step-down/progressive care unit, with the majority of patients on continuous telemetry monitoring.

Unit & Clinical Scope

• Step-down/progressive care acuity serving adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations; occasional pediatric patients (candidates must be comfortable caring for peds)
• Common IV drips include Heparin, Nitroglycerin, Cardizem, and Amiodarone — managed within established parameters; upward titration requires provider order
• Skills utilized: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, cardiac drip management, non-invasive airway management, rapid response/code team activation, and isolation precautions

Schedule & Float

• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Up to 2 weekends per month
• Floating to MedSurg based on census
• Holidays required
• Block scheduling may be considered if requested upfront (not guaranteed)

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years IMCU/telemetry experience
• 2+ years travel nursing experience required
• Active NC or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS — all must be AHA-issued and remain current throughout the contract
• Proficiency with telemetry and electronic health records required
• Scrubs: Navy or white only

Eligibility

• Candidates must reside more than 40 miles from the facility; driver's license required for address verification prior to offer
• COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
