Operating Room Nurse
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Nurse for a 13-week contract assignment beginning September 28, 2026. You will provide circulating and/or scrub nursing support across a variety of surgical specialties in a busy OR environment.
Schedule & Expectations
- 4 ten-hour shifts, 9:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- On-call and weekend call required per unit needs
- May float to other regional facilities based on operational needs
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 1+ years of general OR experience
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- Ability to function in both circulating and scrub roles across multiple surgical specialties (general surgery, orthopedic, GYN, urology, ENT, etc.)
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields, instruments, and equipment
- Perform pre-operative assessments and verify surgical site, consent, and procedure per protocol
- Conduct accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts before, during, and after procedures
- Monitor patient status and safety throughout surgical cases
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the surgical team to ensure efficient case flow
- Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and post-operative handoff to recovery staff
- Document intraoperative care accurately, including counts, medications, and patient status
