ICU RN – Travel Contract | La Jolla, CA
Shift: Days, 3x12-Hour (07:00–19:30)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Start Date: October 5 or October 18 (firm — no exceptions)
About the Role
This ICU travel position is based at a facility in La Jolla, CA, caring for adult and geriatric patients across a high-acuity critical care environment. The unit manages complex neurological, surgical, trauma, and multi-system cases, including post-craniotomy and neurosurgery recovery, traumatic brain injury, acute stroke, spinal cord injury, and multi-organ dysfunction.
You will have a designated home unit but may be required to float to like units or lower-acuity units across multiple campuses within the health system — not to the ED.
Schedule & Expectations
- 4 weekend shifts per 4-week cycle
- At least one holiday shift, including the associated holiday weekend
- Block scheduling (Fri/Sat/Sun) considered
Required Certifications
- AHA BLS
- AHA ACLS
- NIHSS
- TNCC
Required Skills
Arterial line and central line management, ventilator management, ICP and EVD monitoring, CVVHD/CRRT, vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, continuous IV sedation and paralytic management, post-craniotomy/neurosurgery care, acute stroke management, hypothermia protocol, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube assistance, blood product administration, 12-lead ECG, procedural sedation, and lumbar drain management.
Minimum Requirements
- 2+ years of concurrent ICU experience
- Active California RN license (Temp or Perm) required at time of submission
- Travel nursing experience required
- No locals within 100 miles; San Diego candidates on assignment 9+ months are ineligible
