Registered Nurse – Family Birth Center
Position Overview
The facility is seeking experienced labor & delivery nurses for its Family Birth Center. This is a 12-hour night shift role (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) on an every-other-weekend schedule with first-to-float responsibilities. Contract duration is 13 weeks, beginning October 6, 2026.
Unit Details
You'll work in a comprehensive perinatal setting managing both low- and high-risk deliveries. The unit handles the full spectrum of obstetric care, including postpartum recovery and operative deliveries. An OB hospitalist is in-house 24/7, with respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available around the clock.
Clinical Scope
- Manage laboring patients and postpartum couplets according to California nurse-to-patient ratios
- Provide fetal monitoring and maternal assessment across the labor-delivery-recovery continuum
- Participate in operative delivery support
- Potential float assignments to pediatrics (couplets) or NICU (feeders/growers with prior NICU experience)
Requirements
- Current RN license (California)
- BLS, ACLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Advanced AWHONN certification
- Proctored dysrhythmia assessment required on day one (pass/fail)
Additional Information
- Floor-specific orientation: 2–3 shifts depending on experience with circulating
- Weekend requirement: 3 per 4-week schedule
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
- Hospital reserves right to cancel up to 4 shifts during 13-week assignment
- Peak volume: July and October
