Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) — Travel RN

Asheville, NC | Days | 13-Week Contract

A pediatric facility in Asheville, NC is seeking an experienced PICU Travel RN for a day shift contract beginning October 2026.

Shift & Schedule

• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• 16-week contract
• Must work 3 weekends per 6-week scheduling cycle

Unit Overview

The PICU manages high-acuity pediatric patients requiring intensive monitoring and complex interventional care. Nurses may also float to the pediatric unit and NICU based on staffing needs.

Clinical Scope — Procedures & Skills

• IV starts and catheterizations
• Lumbar puncture assistance
• Central line dressing changes
• Hemodynamic monitoring
• Trach care and tracheostomy management
• Enteral tube feeding and NG/G-tube placement
• ICP monitoring
• Ventilator management

Patient Ratios

• PICU: 1 RN to 1–2 patients
• Stepdown: 1 RN to 2–3 patients

Staffing Support

• Health unit coordinator on duty 9 AM–9 PM
• Shared tech support available

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of PICU experience required
• PALS certification required
• Active RN license (NC or compact eligible)

Dress Code

• All navy, all white, or navy pants with white top
