Medical ICU / PCU Overflow RN — Asheville, NC

Night Shift | 13-Week Contract

This combined Medical ICU and PCU overflow unit manages high-acuity patients requiring intensive monitoring and complex critical care interventions. The unit operates with ICU and step-down level patients, and staff must be comfortable transitioning between both acuity levels.

Shift & Schedule

• Night shift: 18:45–07:15 (12-hour shifts)
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday support expected
• No on-call requirements
• Floating to other units is required

Clinical Scope

• Advanced hemodynamic monitoring
• Ventilator management
• Critical care pharmacology: IV sedation, paralytics, vasopressors
• Central line management
• Targeted temperature management (TTM)
• Bedside procedure assistance (chest tube insertion, intubation, etc.)
• Bedside shift report is mandatory; relief charge nurses perform nurse leader rounding

Required Skills & Experience

• Medical ICU experience required
• Strong critical thinking, flexibility, and team collaboration
• Proficiency with hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management

Certifications Required

• BLS
• ACLS

Dress Code

• Navy blue or white scrubs

Contract Details

• Duration: 13 weeks
• Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
• Start date: September 21, 2026
