Progressive Care Unit — Registered Nurse
Asheville, NC | Night Shift | 13-Week Contract
This Progressive Care Unit position focuses on neurological and trauma step-down care, providing an excellent opportunity for RNs with strong neuro and spinal assessment skills.
Shift & Schedule
- Night shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Every other weekend required
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
Clinical Scope
The unit manages intermediate-acuity patients requiring neuro and trauma step-down level care. Common procedures include:
- Neuro and spinal checks
- C-collar placement and TLSO brace management
- Chest tube and lumbar drain care
- PCA pump and IV infusion management
- Feeding tube placement
- Blood transfusions
- Tracheostomy care
Required Certifications
- ACLS
- BLS
- NIHSS
Required Experience
- Neuro and/or trauma care experience — mandatory; candidates without this background will not be considered
Float Requirements
Travel nurses may float to stepdown and med-surg units as needed.
Dress Code
Navy blue scrubs
