Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN – Night Shift | Maryville, TN
Contract: 13–26 weeks | Start Date: October 5, 2026
Shift: Nights, 3×12-hour (18:45–07:15) | Every other weekend required
About the Unit
This inpatient unit specializes in stroke and TIA care while also managing higher-acuity medical-surgical patients. The team places a strong emphasis on patient experience and is equipped to perform peritoneal dialysis and continuous bladder irrigation.
Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
Common Diagnoses: Stroke/TIA, seizure, syncope, ia, chest pain, dialysis, acute kidney failure, post-heart cath, respiratory failure, encephalopathy, CHF, and sepsis
Clinical Skills Utilized
- Telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation (including remote monitoring)
- Blood product administration, central line draws, PICC line management
- BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula management
- Continuous bladder irrigation, peritoneal dialysis
- Feeding tube care, wound care/wound vac, port access
- Heparin and insulin management, cardiac drip management (no titration)
- PCA, oral suctioning, substance withdrawal management
Requirements
- Active Tennessee RN license
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience (no first-time travelers)
- Previous charge experience required
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS — all required
- Minimum 1 year of electronic medical records experience required
- Flu vaccine required; no exemptions accepted
Float: Required to other units based on census and verified competencies
Orientation: 24 hours (Monday start); pre-assignment modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials (up to 16 billable hours)
