Med/Surg Telemetry RN – Night Shift | Rochester, NY
15-Week Contract | 3×12 Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
This Med/Surg Telemetry unit cares for adult and geriatric patients with cardiovascular diagnoses and complex wound care needs. RNs work alongside PCTs who manage vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living, as well as a robust interdisciplinary team including respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response services.
Clinical Requirements
- Active BLS and MS/Tele certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Mandatory competency in phlebotomy and peripheral IV placement — these are non-negotiable unit expectations
- Proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Oxygen delivery (nasal cannula, face mask, portable tanks) and non-invasive airway management
- Isolation precautions/PPE compliance
- Wound vac and Hoyer lift experience helpful
Scheduling & Float
- Every other weekend required
- Float to MS, ICU, and ED as needed; ICU/ED floats remain within Med/Surg scope only
- Block scheduling accommodated when possible, not guaranteed
- RTO requests should be limited to approximately 1 week per contract
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience
- New travelers accepted
- Active New York RN license required prior to submission
- Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible
- Pre-start modules required (approximately 4–10 hours); 4-hour on-site orientation with educator
