Intensive Care Unit – Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced ICU nurse for night shifts to join a high-acuity neuro and cardiovascular intensive care unit. You'll care for critically ill adults and geriatric patients with complex diagnoses in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Shift & Schedule
- Shift: Night, 3 × 12-hour (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Duration: 16 weeks
- Start Date: ASAP
- Float Required: Yes — between ICU overflow and progressive care unit (PCU) in rotation with team members
- Weekends: No weekend requirement
- Call: No on-call
Clinical Scope
This unit manages high-acuity patients including:
- Post-cardiac surgery (CABG, valve repair/replacement, IABP, TAVR)
- Acute stroke and thrombectomy candidates
- STEMI and cardiac interventions
- Multi-trauma and motor vehicle accidents
- Sepsis and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT)
- Traumatic brain injury and post-neurosurgery management
- Ventilated patients requiring sedation, paralysis, and hemodynamic support
Required Experience & Certifications
- Minimum 2 years critical care nursing
- Current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- LA City Fire Card
- Travel nursing experience required
- Compact license in hand at submission
Required Skills
Arterial line and central line management, ventilator management, dysrhythmia interpretation, vasoactive drip titration, blood product administration, chest tube care, BiPAP/CPAP, ICP monitoring interpretation, post-procedure sheath removal, and procedural sedation monitoring.
