Medical/Surgical Telemetry — Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Medical/Surgical nurse for a 13-week night shift assignment. You'll provide care to a diverse patient population in a fast-paced telemetry environment, managing complex diagnoses and multiple treatment modalities.
Shift & Schedule
- Night: 3x12-hour (18:45–07:15)
- Contract: 13 weeks
- Weekends: 12–16 shifts per contract
- Time Off: Up to 7 days pre-approved RTO (no time off during first week; must work 2 of 3 major holidays)
- Floating: Required within the facility
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
- BLS certification
- EKG testing required prior to start
- First-time travelers welcome; locals accepted
Clinical Skills & Scope
You'll manage patients with diagnoses including dementia, diabetes, COVID-19, ia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, and hip fracture. Expected competencies include:
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and telemetry monitoring
- IV insulin protocols and heparin management
- Central and peripheral line care, PICC line management
- Blood product administration
- Non-invasive airway management (CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula)
- Chest tube management
- Wound care and wound vac
- Feeding tube and colostomy care
- Hemodialysis pre/post-procedure care
- Rapid Response Team coordination
Preferred: Tracheostomy management, port access, ABG interpretation, CVA experience
Unit Details
- 24-hour orientation (day one); hospital orientation week one
- Navy/white scrubs
- Interdisciplinary support: IV teams, respiratory, phlebotomy, social services, pharmacy, and more
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
