Registered Nurse – Orthopedic/Trauma (Med-Surg)

Kansas City, Missouri | Nights | 13-Week Contract

This night-shift travel RN opportunity is on a busy Orthopedic/Trauma unit in Kansas City, Missouri, providing care for post-operative joint replacement patients, trauma admissions, and occasional neuro overflow.

Shift & Schedule

• 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Three 12-hour shifts per week, with three weekend shifts per schedule period
• 36 guaranteed hours weekly
• Start date: September 14, 2026

Clinical Scope

The unit manages post-op knee, hip, and shoulder replacement patients alongside trauma cases and neuro overflow. Clinical supports include unit secretaries and patient care technicians. Traction management, external fixator care, and cooling equipment are routinely used on the floor.

Float Requirements

Travel staff are first to float. Floating may occur to other Med-Surg level-of-care units, including General Med-Surg, Nephrology, and Neuro/Trauma.

Patient Experience Standards

• Bedside shift report
• Hourly rounding

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• BLS certification
• Orthopedic nursing experience
• Telemetry experience
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) familiarity preferred
