Cardiac Stepdown Unit (CSU) — Travel RN | Richmond, VA
Night Shift | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 13-Week Contract
This Cardiac Stepdown Unit cares for a complex cardiac patient population, including post-surgical and medical cardiology cases. Clinicians will manage patients recovering from CABG, valve replacement, TAVR, mitral clip repair, and thoracotomy, as well as those presenting with Afib, CHF, and MI.
Clinical Scope
- Management of central lines, chest tubes, pacer wires, PCAs, Foley catheters, and surgical drains
- Administration of cardiac drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, and nitroglycerin
- Vital signs, assessments, and rhythm interpretation every 4 hours
Required Skills
- Ability to read and interpret cardiac monitors
- Ability to administer narcotics
- Stepdown experience and cardiac knowledge strongly preferred
Schedule & Coverage
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Overtime available
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
- Float to telemetry and med-surg as needed
Required Certifications
- BLS
- ACLS
