Progressive Care Unit (PCU) — Travel RN

Greensboro, NC | Days | 16-Week Contract

This high-acuity Progressive Care Unit manages a complex adult patient population, including stroke, renal disorders, sepsis, endocrine, gastrointestinal, and hematological conditions. The unit provides continuous cardiac surveillance through a centralized monitoring department, and nurses routinely care for long-term, total-care patients who remain on the unit through transitions in acuity level.

Shift & Schedule

  • 3x12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
  • Weekend and holiday rotation required
  • No call
  • Floating to other campuses required as needed

Required Certifications

  • ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Clinical Skills Required

  • Cardiac telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
  • Titration of cardiac, vasoactive, and insulin drips
  • Peripheral and PICC line care and management
  • Central line care, chest tube management
  • BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula management
  • Blood product administration
  • Tracheostomy care and wound care/wound vac
  • IV insulin and heparin protocols

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of PCU experience
  • First-time travelers welcome
  • Active RN license in hand at time of submission
  • EKG compliance exam required (2 attempts allowed)
  • Third-party education verification required
  • No local candidates within 50 miles
  • Current driver's license required
  • COVID-19 and flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
  • Prior charge experience preferred

Orientation: Approximately 36 hours; non-billable modules average 2–4 hours and are completed during orientation.
