Orthopedic/Trauma Nurse – Night Shift

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced RN for its orthopedic/trauma unit. This is a 13-week contract role working nights (19:00–07:00).

Unit Description

You'll join a dedicated orthopedic and trauma team managing post-operative orthopedic patients (knee, hip, and shoulder replacements) and acute trauma cases, with occasional neuro overflow. The unit uses specialized equipment including traction devices, fixators, and cooling systems to support patient recovery. A unit secretary and Patient Care Technicians are available to support your workflow.

Staffing & Schedule

• Three 12-hour night shifts plus three weekend shifts per schedule period
• 48 hours guaranteed per week
• Contract labor floats first to other medical-surgical units (General MedSurg, Nephrology, Neuro/Trauma) as needed

Clinical Requirements

• Current RN license and BLS certification required
• Orthopedic experience essential
• Telemetry and NIH stroke protocol familiarity preferred

Patient Care Standards

Bedside shift reports and hourly rounding are core to the unit's patient experience model.

What to Bring

Navy scrubs required.
