Emergency Room RN — 12-Hour Nights | Merced, CA | 13-Week Contract
This Emergency Department position offers experienced ER nurses a fast-paced acute care environment with guaranteed hours and a structured support team.
Shift & Schedule
- 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 12-hour nights
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- 2 weekends per 4 weeks; holidays as needed
- Self-scheduling unit; no floating outside the ED
Unit Overview
The ED treats a broad range of adult patients presenting with routine to high-acuity emergencies. The unit is stroke-certified and the base hospital for EMS. STEMIs, hemorrhagic strokes, and pediatric cases are transferred out. Nurses may carry ED holds. The facility follows EMTALA requirements — all patients are stabilized and treated regardless of insurance status.
The department includes cardiac-monitored rooms and a dedicated area staffed by midlevels and nursing. Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available around the clock. ER Techs (EMT, MA, or CNA-trained) assist with tech duties and EKGs.
Orientation
Up to 6 preceptored shifts upon arrival.
Required Certifications
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
Charting
Recent experience with an electronic health record charting system is required; candidates with applicable experience may be eligible to test out of portions of charting orientation.
Dress Code
Navy blue scrubs required; scrub jackets, undershirts, and all layers must be navy, white, or black.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent ED travel or staff experience required
- Strong, thorough documentation skills essential
- Must be available for interview with hiring manager prior to offer
