Speech Language Pathologist – Acute Care Dysphagia
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to join the acute care team, specializing in adult dysphagia assessment and treatment. You will perform Modified Barium Swallow Studies and conduct dysphagia screenings for hospitalized patients across varied acuity levels.
Shift & Schedule
- Wednesday–Saturday, 7:00 AM–4:30 PM
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- 13-week contract
- Start date: September 8, 2026
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct bedside dysphagia screening and comprehensive swallowing assessments
- Perform and interpret Modified Barium Swallow Studies
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team
- Document findings and recommendations in patient medical records
- Provide patient and family education on swallowing safety
Required Qualifications
- Current Speech Language Pathology license (Texas)
- Professional certification (ASHA CCC-SLP preferred)
- Experience with acute care adult dysphagia assessment and intervention
- Strong clinical reasoning and communication skills
Required Before Start
- Driver's License/State ID
- Current vaccinations: COVID-19, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap, Influenza
- TB clearance (2-step PPD or IGRA)
- Fit test
- Background check, drug screening, and professional reference verification
