Emergency Room RN — Travel Contract | Redding, CA
13-Week Contract | 12-Hour Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
This high-volume Emergency Department manages a diverse patient population including trauma, stroke, pediatric, and psychiatric cases, seeing approximately 155 patients per day. The unit is fast-paced and high-acuity, making this an ideal role for experienced ER nurses who thrive in a demanding clinical environment.
Shift & Scheduling
- 12-hour night shifts with varied start times between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM
- Every other weekend required; holidays worked into permanent staff rotation
- Self-scheduling by seniority; schedule posted at least 2 weeks in advance
Clinical Details
- Scrub color: Navy
- Ventilator management experience required; ventilator-capable patients on unit
- Charge nurse on duty does not carry a patient assignment
- EMT-trained aides support each shift for tech duties
- Hospitalist and intensivist in-house 24/7; Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy available 24/7
- Floor-specific orientation: 2–3 shifts
- On-call requirement: approximately 1–2 days per month based on team rotation
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of ER experience in a high-volume, high-acuity setting
- Level II trauma experience or higher strongly preferred
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS; TNCC preferred
- On Day 1: proctored Dysrhythmia Test (pass/fail) required on-site
- Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
Note: The facility may cancel up to 4 shifts over a 13-week assignment.
