Emergency Room RN — Travel Contract | Redding, CA

13-Week Contract | 12-Hour Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

This high-volume Emergency Department manages a diverse patient population including trauma, stroke, pediatric, and psychiatric cases, seeing approximately 155 patients per day. The unit is fast-paced and high-acuity, making this an ideal role for experienced ER nurses who thrive in a demanding clinical environment.

Shift & Scheduling

  • 12-hour night shifts with varied start times between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM
  • Every other weekend required; holidays worked into permanent staff rotation
  • Self-scheduling by seniority; schedule posted at least 2 weeks in advance

Clinical Details

  • Scrub color: Navy
  • Ventilator management experience required; ventilator-capable patients on unit
  • Charge nurse on duty does not carry a patient assignment
  • EMT-trained aides support each shift for tech duties
  • Hospitalist and intensivist in-house 24/7; Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy available 24/7
  • Floor-specific orientation: 2–3 shifts
  • On-call requirement: approximately 1–2 days per month based on team rotation

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of ER experience in a high-volume, high-acuity setting
  • Level II trauma experience or higher strongly preferred
  • Travel nursing experience preferred
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS; TNCC preferred
  • On Day 1: proctored Dysrhythmia Test (pass/fail) required on-site
  • Guaranteed hours: 36 per week

Note: The facility may cancel up to 4 shifts over a 13-week assignment.
