Physical Therapist Assistant – Acute Care
Position Overview
Join the inpatient acute care team at the facility in Bryan, TX. You'll work in a fast-paced environment treating diverse adult and older teen patient populations across trauma, telemetry, orthopedic, surgical, critical care, neuro, and oncology units.
Shift & Schedule
- 10-hour shifts: 0800–1630
- Alternating weekends (a comp day is provided during the week for any weekend days worked)
- First-to-float position
- 40 guaranteed hours per week
- 12-week contract, ASAP start
Clinical Scope
You'll primarily perform evaluations (approximately 1 per hour) and provide daily treatments (goal of 10 completed treatments in an 8-hour shift). The facility is a Level III trauma center with a strong focus on acute adult care. Floor-specific orientation covers hospital procedures, protocols, and the charting system over 3–5 days, depending on your experience level.
Requirements
- BLS Certification required
- Physical Therapist Assistant license
- Strong clinical background in adult acute care preferred
- New graduates welcome if they have solid adult acute care training, including trauma and critical care experience
Work Environment
- Maroon scrubs
- Supportive team environment with opportunity to precept, as needed
- Call-outs strongly discouraged
- Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
Notes
- No prior direct employment with CommonSpirit facilities (including CHI/Dignity) within the past year
- Outside PRN staffing experience is acceptable
