Med/Surg Telemetry — Night Shift | Winston-Salem, NC | 13-Week Contract
This post-surgical telemetry unit cares for adult and geriatric patients recovering from colorectal, general surgery, hepatobiliary, vascular, and orthopedic/spine procedures. The pace is steady, interdisciplinary support is strong, and the team values a collaborative approach to patient care.
Shift & Schedule
- Nights: 18:45–07:15 (3x12-hour shifts)
- 36 or 48-hour week options available (overtime does not begin until after 48 hours if on that track)
- Self-scheduling with Nursing Manager input
- Every other weekend required
- Pre-approved RTO only; no RTO requests after signing; no RTO during the first week; must work 2 of 3 major holidays
Clinical Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; first-time travelers considered
- Post-surgical experience in general, ortho/spine, GI, vascular, or hepatobiliary required if limited overall post-surgical background
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Skills: IV starts, telemetry interpretation, dysrhythmia interpretation, central line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, heparin protocols, surgical drains, wound care/wound vac, epidural analgesia, PCA, chest tube management
Certifications
- BLS required
- ACLS and NIHSS required (asterisked items should be confirmed at submission)
Additional Details
- Orientation: 36 hours
- Float: Occasional
- Scrubs: Navy blue or white (not provided by facility)
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered); COVID-19 vaccine not required
- NC or compact license required (pending OK for submission)
- Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted at a adjusted rate
