Intermediate Care Unit – RN (3×12 Rotating)

Assignment Overview

Join the Intermediate Care Unit as a registered nurse on a 13-week contract.Clinical Scope

You'll manage patients with chest pain, rule-out MI, CHF, arrhythmias, post-pacemaker care, and pre/post-catheterization patients. You'll perform groin checks and manage radial band removal. The unit handles overflow patients requiring intermediate-level acuity. All respiratory equipment is managed by respiratory therapy.

Shift & Scheduling

  • Schedule: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts, 3 shifts per week (36 hours guaranteed)
  • Times: 7 am – 7 pm (day) and 7 pm – 7 am (night); arrive 15 minutes early
  • Weekends: Friday through Sunday are weekend shifts. Nights staff work four weekend night shifts per 4-week schedule; day staff work four weekend day shifts. Self-scheduling available as long as unit needs are met.
  • Time Off: Four requested days off per month
  • Floating: Required to float to telemetry or medical-surgical units as needed

Ratios & Support

Required Qualifications

  • Current RN license (valid, unexpired driver's license required with submission)
  • BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications
  • Ability to titrate drips: Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetalol, Nitro, Heparin

Orientation

2-day unit-based preceptorship, then independent practice.

Attendance

Strict policy: two shifts cancelled per 13-week contract maximum. Zero tolerance for tardies and call-offs without advance notice (2+ hours).
