Intermediate Care Unit – RN (Night Shift)
The Opportunity
The facility's Intermediate Care Unit seeks an experienced RN for 12-hour night shifts (7 PM – 7 AM) on a 13-week contract.Unit Overview
This intermediate care setting specializes in chest pain and rule-out MI, CHF, arrhythmias, post-pacemaker care, pre- and post-catheterization patients, and Tikosyn therapy management. The team collaborates with hospitalists and intensivists available 24/7, along with on-site respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and a dedicated IV team.
What You'll Do
- Read and interpret telemetry strips independently
- Titrate cardiac drips: Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetalol, Nitro, Heparin, and occasionally Lasix
- Perform radial band management and groin checks post-cath (sheaths managed by physicians)
- Work four weekend night shifts per 4-week schedule
Requirements
- Current RN licensure
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Ability to read cardiac strips and interpret rhythms
- Valid driver's license (50-mile radius requirement)
Schedule & Support
- Self-scheduling allowed; 4 requested days off per month
- Weekends and holidays as scheduled
- 2-day preceptor-led orientation on the unit
- 36 guaranteed hours/week
Attendance Expectation
Zero tolerance for tardies and call-offs. More than 2 occurrences within the contract term will result in termination.
