Med Surg Tele

Medical/Surgical Telemetry RN — Night Shift | Rochester, NY

This 13-week night shift assignment places you on a cardiac-focused Med/Surg Telemetry unit caring for adult and geriatric patients. The unit is supported by a full interdisciplinary team including PCTs, rapid response teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, physical therapy, and social services.

Shift & Schedule

• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3x12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within scope to similar units is expected
• No on-call required
• RTO limited to no more than 1 week per contract

Clinical Scope

• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Rapid response team activation
• Peripheral line care and placement; phlebotomy (mandatory competency)
• Oxygen administration: nasal cannula, face mask, portable tank
• Non-invasive airway management
• Isolation precautions/PPE

Patient Population

Adults and geriatrics with cardiac diagnoses. PCTs provide vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, EKGs, and ADL support.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
• BLS required; NIHSS preferred
• Active New York RN license required at time of submission
• Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible
• Proficiency with electronic charting in a major hospital-based system is required
• COVID-19 vaccine not required
