Surgical Nurse – OR

Position Overview

The facility seeks an experienced OR nurse for a 13-week contract in a rural surgery setting. You will work day shifts (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM) in a 3-room operating suite, providing care to patients across all age groups—pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

Key Responsibilities

You will function as both circulating nurse and PACU/recovery nurse, depending on daily census and patient flow. Your clinical scope includes general surgery, cardiac monitoring, endoscopy, laparoscopic procedures, thoracic surgery (VATS), orthopedic surgery, and ENT procedures (tonsillectomy, myringotomy). You'll support code responses, manage electrosurgical units, and coordinate with respiratory services, pharmacy, and unit staff.

Requirements

Current RN license (compact license preferred)
Minimum 1 year OR nursing experience required
ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications
Endoscopy experience required
Ability to circulate and recover patients

Scheduling & Call

Day shift: 5 days per week (40 hours)
On-call requirement: 2 days per week, including holidays and weekends
3 weekend on-call 24-hour shifts per month
Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
Floating to nearby sister facilities may be required

Orientation: 40 hours
