OR Nurse – General Surgery

Position Overview

The facility seeks an experienced OR nurse for its general surgery program. You will work day shifts (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM) in a rural hospital setting where OR nurses both circulate and recover patients. This is a 26-week contract.

Clinical Scope

You'll support a range of general surgical procedures including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair, colon resection, total joint replacement, and VATS procedures. Endoscopy experience is required. You'll manage patients across all age groups—pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric—and respond to code situations. Interdisciplinary support includes respiratory services, pharmacy, and unit secretaries.

Schedule & On-Call

Day shift: 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
On-call required: 2 days per week, including holidays and weekends
Expect 3 weekend on-call 24-hour shifts per month
You must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
Flexibility to float to nearby sister facilities when needed

Requirements

Minimum 1 year of charge nursing or OR experience
Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
Active compact state license (required at submission)
Endoscopy experience required
2 professional references covering 1 year of experience within the last 3 years
