Pre/Post-Op & PACU RN — Outpatient Surgery

Santa Rosa, CA | Day Shift | 13-Week Contract

This outpatient surgery position covers Pre-Op, Phase I PACU, Phase II Recovery, and infusion therapy. The unit manages a diverse surgical caseload — including general, orthopedic, urology, ENT, ophthalmology, plastics, podiatry, and gynecological procedures — with patients ranging from pediatrics and adolescents to adults and geriatrics.

Shift & Schedule

  • Monday–Friday only; no weekends, no holidays, no on-call
  • Core start time is 08:30, with staggered starts as early as 06:00 depending on assignment area
  • Flexibility in start time is required to meet daily department needs
  • PACU nurses are expected to remain until the day's cases are complete — there is no shift relief in outpatient surgery

Clinical Skills Required

  • Pre-operative assessment, education, and medication administration
  • Phase I and Phase II post-anesthesia recovery
  • Conscious sedation and monitored anesthesia care (MAC) monitoring
  • End-tidal CO2 monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition and management
  • Blood product administration, IV placement and management, phlebotomy
  • Nerve block and post-epidural management
  • Malignant hyperthermia protocol, reversal agents, RASS assessment
  • Infusion therapy
  • Pediatric PACU experience required

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience
  • Active California RN license (pending license accepted)
  • ACLS, BLS, and PALS required
  • Scrubs or business casual attire
  • Float to nearby sister facilities may be required
  • 40-hour orientation
