Perioperative Nurse – Outpatient Surgery
Position Overview
Join the perioperative team in an outpatient surgery setting. You'll provide comprehensive pre-operative, intra-operative recovery, and post-operative care across a variety of surgical specialties in a fast-paced, Monday–Friday environment.
Shift & Schedule
- Hours: Day shifts, 5×8 hours per week (primarily 08:30–17:00)
- Schedule: Monday–Friday only; no weekends, holidays, or call
- Flexibility Required: Start times vary between 06:00–08:30 depending on daily unit assignments; you must be flexible to meet departmental needs
- Commitment: If scheduled for PACU, you are expected to remain and complete the day (no relief coverage)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Start Date: ASAP
Clinical Scope
You'll work across preoperative assessment, Phase I and Phase II recovery, and discharge planning for patients undergoing general, orthopedic, urological, and other outpatient procedures. Patient populations include pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
Required Skills & Certifications
- Current RN license (California; compact license required)
- ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications
- Minimum 1 year perioperative nursing experience
- Proficiency with: airway assessment, IV initiation, conscious sedation monitoring, end-tidal CO₂ monitoring, blood product administration, post-operative pain management, discharge instructions, and pre/post-operative protocols
- Experience with infusion therapy required
