Registered Nurse – Emergency Department (Adult) | Rochester, NY | 13-Week Contract
This busy emergency department manages a high-acuity adult and geriatric patient population presenting with the full spectrum of emergency diagnoses — including stroke/CVA, neuro-trauma, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, cardiac dysrhythmias, orthopedic trauma, gunshot wounds, drug overdose, acute psychosis, and suicidal ideation. The unit also sees pediatric patients and includes crisis intervention support.
Shift & Schedule
- Rotating 4x12-hour shifts (days: 11:00–23:00 / nights: 19:00–07:00)
- Every other weekend required
- Every other holiday required, as needed
- Contract length: 13 weeks | Estimated start: late September 2026
Clinical Skills Required
- IV vasopressors, blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy
- CPAP/BiPAP and ventilator management
- Cardiac monitoring — interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Stroke/CVA, neuro-trauma, TBI, spinal cord injury management
- , procedural sedation, isolation precautions
- Managing violent and/or suicidal patients
Certifications & Licensure
- Active New York Single State RN license required at time of submission (NY is not Compact)
- BLS, ACLS, and valid NIHSS required
- PALS and TNCC preferred
- Minimum 1 year of ED experience
Unit Details
- Patient ratio: 1:5 (adults and geriatrics)
- Floating required within skillset
- Scrub color: navy blue and white combination
- Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible
- First-time travelers accepted; pre-start modules required (up to 10 hours total)
