Labor & Delivery RN — Travel Contract | Fullerton, CA
Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | 3x12-Hour Shifts | 16-Week Contract
This Labor & Delivery unit manages a busy caseload of approximately 6–8 deliveries per day, caring for a diverse obstetric population that includes labor induction, preeclampsia, TOLAC/VBAC, multiples, preterm labor, and high-risk antepartum patients.
Clinical Scope
Candidates must be comfortable managing the full spectrum of L&D care, including:
- Sterile vaginal exams and independent obstetric *(hard stop — expert-level proficiency required)*
- External and internal fetal monitoring, IUPC placement and calibration
- Magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, antihypertensives, and antiseizure therapy
- C-section circulating and scrub roles; C-section recovery
- Postpartum hemorrhage recognition and management
- Newborn assessment, APGAR scoring, and thermoregulation
- Epidural and general anesthesia support
Float: Required to mother-baby unit as needed.
Schedule & Commitment
- Weekend availability required; expect beyond every-other-weekend to meet unit needs
- Must be available for 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of application; post-offer changes may not be accommodated
Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring *(AWHONN is a hard stop — must hold prior to submission)*
Experience: Minimum 1.5 years L&D experience required; 2 years preferred
Scrub Color: Royal Blue (L&D scrubs provided for OR)
Licensing: Active compact license required at time of submission | No on-call required | Free parking on-site
