Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical/Telemetry
Location: Lexington, KY
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Start Date: October 5, 2026
About the Role
Join the facility's medical-surgical/telemetry unit, where you'll provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to adult patients with medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions. This is a fast-paced environment requiring strong clinical judgment, cardiac monitoring expertise, and the ability to collaborate seamlessly across the interdisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive assessments and direct patient care, managing a typical load of 4–6 patients per shift
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; recognize and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders, including cardiac drips
- Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound management and pain control
- Coordinate discharge planning and educate patients and families on conditions, medications, and self-care
- Document assessments, interventions, and responses accurately in the medical record
- Uphold infection control and fall prevention protocols
- Actively participate in quality improvement and care coordination with the care team
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky (or compact license as applicable)
- BLS certification required; ACLS required
- ADN or ASN (BSN preferred)
- 1+ years of medical-surgical or telemetry nursing experience
- Demonstrated telemetry/EKG interpretation competency
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and delegate appropriately
