Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical/Telemetry
Shift: 3rd shift, three 12-hour shifts per week (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Location: Lexington, KY
About the Role
The facility's medical-surgical/telemetry unit serves adult patients with a wide range of medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions. You'll provide comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care grounded in the nursing process and current clinical standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders, including cardiac drips as applicable
- Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound assessment and pain management
- Coordinate care for patients with chronic and acute conditions (diabetes, cardiac, respiratory)
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
- Collaborate with physicians, cardiologists, case managers, and team members on discharge planning
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record
- Manage a typical patient load of 4–6 patients per shift
- Maintain infection control and fall prevention protocols
Requirements
- Active, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky (or compact license as applicable)
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- 1+ years of medical-surgical/telemetry nursing experience
- Telemetry/EKG interpretation competency
- ADN or ASN; BSN preferred
