Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery/Recovery/Postpartum (LDRP)

About the Role

The facility's LDRP unit provides comprehensive maternity care across the full continuum—labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care—in a single room setting. You'll deliver evidence-based, family-centered nursing care to mothers and newborns, maintaining continuity throughout each patient's hospital stay.

Key Responsibilities

Assess and monitor fetal heart rate patterns and uterine contractions; escalate concerns promptly
Provide direct care during labor, vaginal deliveries, and immediate postpartum recovery
Administer labor medications (induction/augmentation agents, epidural support) per physician orders
Perform maternal and newborn assessments as part of couplet care; manage high-risk OB and postpartum conditions
Support breastfeeding and family education; facilitate bonding and infant care instruction
Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and pediatric teams on individualized care plans
Document labor, delivery, and postpartum care accurately in the medical record

Required Qualifications

Active, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky (or compact license as applicable)
BLS, ACLS, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
Minimum 1+ years of L&D/LDRP experience
ADN or ASN; BSN preferred

Preferred Certifications

AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification
