Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery/Recovery/Postpartum (LDRP)

About the Role

The facility's LDRP unit provides comprehensive maternity care across the full continuum—labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care—in a single room setting. You'll deliver evidence-based, family-centered nursing care to mothers and newborns, maintaining continuity throughout each patient's hospital stay.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and monitor fetal heart rate patterns and uterine contractions; escalate concerns promptly
  • Provide direct care during labor, vaginal deliveries, and immediate postpartum recovery
  • Administer labor medications (induction/augmentation agents, epidural support) per physician orders
  • Perform maternal and newborn assessments as part of couplet care; manage high-risk OB and postpartum conditions
  • Support breastfeeding and family education; facilitate bonding and infant care instruction
  • Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and pediatric teams on individualized care plans
  • Document labor, delivery, and postpartum care accurately in the medical record

Required Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky (or compact license as applicable)
  • BLS, ACLS, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
  • Minimum 1+ years of L&D/LDRP experience
  • ADN or ASN; BSN preferred

Preferred Certifications

  • AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification
