Medical-Surgical Telemetry Nurse

Location: Lexington, KY

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week

Schedule: Weekends and holidays as needed

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Start Date: October 5, 2026

About the Role

The facility's medical-surgical telemetry unit cares for adult patients with a diverse range of medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions. You'll provide comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care centered on patient assessment, safety, and family-centered communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and implement individualized care plans in coordination with the interdisciplinary team
  • Administer medications and treatments per physician orders, including cardiac drips as applicable
  • Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound assessment and pain management
  • Coordinate care for patients with chronic and acute conditions (diabetes, cardiac, respiratory)
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
  • Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and team members on discharge planning
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately
  • Manage a typical patient load of 4–6 patients per shift
  • Ensure adherence to infection control and fall prevention protocols

Required Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky (or compact license as applicable)
  • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
  • Minimum 1+ years of medical-surgical telemetry nursing experience
  • Demonstrated competency in telemetry/EKG interpretation
  • ADN or ASN; BSN preferred
