Operating Room Nurse | 16-Week Contract

Location: Birmingham, AL

Shift & Schedule

• Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM
• On-call: 3 weeknights and 1 weekend day per month
• 1 major and 1 minor holiday coverage expected

Requirements

• Active RN license (state or compact)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• CNOR certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years recent OR experience
• Ability to work in both circulating and scrub roles
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy

Surgical Experience Needed

General surgery, orthopedic, neuro, urology, vascular, GYN, ENT, plastics, and da Vinci XI robotic cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide circulating and scrub support across multiple surgical specialties
• Maintain sterile field, instruments, and equipment
• Perform pre-operative assessments and site verification
• Execute accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts
• Monitor patient safety and status throughout procedures
• Manage supplies and equipment availability
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and surgical team
• Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and PACU handoff
• Document intraoperative care accurately
