Operating Room RN – 16-Week Contract

Location: Birmingham, AL

Shift & Schedule:

• 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday–Thursday (4 x 10 days)
• On-call: 3 weeknights and 1 weekend day per month
• Holiday coverage: 1 major and 1 minor holiday during contract

Contract Duration: 16 weeks | Start Date: September 28, 2026

About the Role:

The facility's main operating room is seeking an experienced OR RN to provide circulating and/or scrub support across a broad range of surgical specialties, including orthopedic, neurosurgery, robotic-assisted (da Vinci XI), urology, vascular, general surgery, gynecology, ENT, and plastics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Circulate and/or scrub surgical cases with precision and efficiency
• Maintain sterile field, instruments, and equipment throughout procedures
• Perform pre-operative assessments, verify surgical site and consent per protocol
• Execute accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts before, during, and after each case
• Monitor patient safety and hemodynamic status intraoperatively
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and surgical team to optimize case flow
• Assist with patient positioning, skin prep, and post-op handoff to recovery
• Document intraoperative care, medications, and patient status accurately

Requirements:

• Active RN license (state or compact)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• CNOR certification preferred
• 2+ years recent OR experience across multiple surgical specialties
• Ability to function flexibly in circulating and/or scrub roles
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
