Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical/Telemetry
Location: Lexington, KY
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (3 x 12-hour shifts; weekends and holidays as needed)
Duration: 13 weeks
Start Date: October 5, 2026
About the Role
You will provide comprehensive nursing care on a medical-surgical/telemetry unit serving adult patients with a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, including cardiac, surgical, respiratory, and diabetes-related diagnoses. This role offers clinical autonomy within your scope of practice and the opportunity to work as part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team focused on patient-centered healing.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform continuous cardiac monitoring with arrhythmia recognition and EKG interpretation
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, identify risk factors, and develop individualized care plans
- Administer medications and treatments, including cardiac drips, per physician orders
- Manage pre- and post-operative patients, including wound care and pain management
- Monitor vital signs and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, case managers, and the care team on discharge planning
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record
- Adhere to infection control and fall prevention protocols
- Typically manage 4–6 patients per shift, depending on acuity
Requirements
- Active, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky (or compact license as applicable)
- ADN or ASN (BSN preferred)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- 1+ years of medical-surgical or telemetry nursing experience
- Demonstrated telemetry/EKG interpretation competency
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and collaborative skills
- Ability to assess and manage age-specific patient safety needs
