About the Role
The facility's stepdown unit provides care to patients requiring closer monitoring than general medical-surgical floors but who are not ICU-level. You'll manage patients transitioning from intensive care or at risk of clinical deterioration, with a typical patient load of 3–4 patients per shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs, responding promptly to changes in patient condition
- Administer medications, including select IV drips, per physician orders
- Assess and manage patients with moderate acuity needs and complex care requirements
- Collaborate with physicians, intensivists, and the interdisciplinary team on individualized care plans
- Respond to rapid response and code interventions as needed
- Educate patients and families on condition, treatment, and recovery
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record
- Follow infection control and fall prevention protocols
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (or compact license as applicable)
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- 1+ years of stepdown/telemetry experience
- Travel experience and 2 years in specialty required
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN (ADN accepted per facility policy)
- PCCN (Progressive Care Certified Nurse)
