Medical-Surgical Nurse – 18-Week Travel Contract
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced RN for its medical-surgical unit. You'll provide comprehensive care to adult patients with a diverse range of medical and surgical diagnoses, managing pre- and post-operative patients alongside those with chronic conditions such as diabetes, cardiac, and respiratory illness.
Shift & Duration
- 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (nights)
- 18-week contract
- Start date: September 28, 2026
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, monitor, and respond to patient condition changes, escalating as needed
- Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
- Coordinate care and discharge planning with the interdisciplinary team
- Provide patient and family education on conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate EMR documentation
- Ensure infection control and fall prevention protocols
- Typical patient load: 4–6 patients per shift (varies by acuity)
Requirements
- Active RN license in Alabama (or compact license)
- Minimum 1+ years of medical-surgical nursing experience
- 2+ years total nursing experience
- Travel nursing experience required
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted
- CMSRN certification preferred
- Ability to manage patients with varying diagnoses and acuity levels
