Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery/LDRP
Location: Lexington, KY
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (3x12 nights)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Start Date: October 5, 2026
About the Role
You'll provide comprehensive nursing care across the full continuum of labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care in an LDRP (Labor/Delivery/Recovery/Postpartum) setting. This role emphasizes continuity—you'll remain with the same patient and family throughout their hospital stay, providing evidence-based care grounded in professional nursing practice and a patient-centered healing philosophy.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and interpret fetal heart rate monitoring and uterine contraction patterns; escalate concerns promptly
- Administer labor induction/augmentation medications and provide epidural support per physician orders
- Assist with vaginal deliveries and manage immediate postpartum and post-cesarean recovery
- Perform comprehensive maternal and newborn assessments as part of couplet care
- Manage high-risk OB and postpartum conditions with appropriate interventions
- Support mothers on breastfeeding, infant care, and family bonding
- Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and pediatric team on individualized care plans
- Document labor, delivery, and postpartum care accurately in the EMR
- Delegate tasks appropriately and oversee team members in care delivery
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky (or compact license as applicable)
- ADN or ASN; BSN preferred
- BLS, ACLS, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- 1+ year of L&D/LDRP experience
- Experience with fetal monitoring, deliveries, and postpartum/couplet care
Preferred Qualifications
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification
- Previous nursing experience in obstetrics
Strong communication, clinical autonomy within scope of practice, and a commitment to evidence-based care are essential.
