Progressive Cardiac Unit (PCU) – Telemetry Nurse

Shift & Schedule

• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 3 × 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours)
• 9-week contract
• Available to start: October 19, 2026
• Scrubs: Navy blue

The Role

You'll care for high-acuity cardiac patients in a busy PCU with strong telemetry monitoring demands. This is a cardiac-focused unit requiring independent rhythm interpretation and a solid grasp of complex cardiac conditions and drips.

Patient Population & Acuity

• Typical ratio: 1:4 to 1:5
• Common diagnoses: heart failure, atrial fibrillation, SVT, ventricular arrhythmias, chest pain, post-catheterization patients, heart transplant recipients, and LVAD patients
• High patient turnover with frequent admissions/discharges and significant procedural volume

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 18 months recent cardiac unit experience
• Independent cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Dysrhythmia exam: Paper-based, proctored, calipers required. Must pass on first attempt—no retakes.
• Proficiency with cardiac drips: insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, lasix, nitroglycerin
• Chest tube management
• Familiarity with procedures: heart catheterizations, TR band management, sheath removal, stent placement, cardioversions, pacemakers, ICDs, ablations

Required License & Certification

• GA or compact license in hand
• BLS required

Float Expectations

May float to similar cardiac/PCU units as needed. Will not float to monitor tech roles.

Travel Radius

50-mile radius; no local travelers.
