Certified Surgical First Assist – Operating Room

Position Overview

Join the operating room team as a Certified Surgical First Assist. This is a 13-week contract position in Asheville, NC, working 4 x 10-hour shifts with a start date of September 21, 2026.

Schedule & Call Requirements

• Shift: 06:45 – 17:15 (4 x 10-hour days)
• Call: 1 night per week and 1 weekend in 6 weeks
• Flexible scheduling with call required

Clinical Scope

You'll support surgeons across a diverse range of specialties, including:

• Orthopedic trauma, orthopedic, and spine surgery
• Neurosurgery
• General surgery
• Gynecology and urology
• Vascular surgery
• Pediatric, ENT, plastic, podiatry, and maxillofacial procedures
• Emergency eye and trauma cases

The operating room utilizes advanced robotic surgical systems and standard surgical equipment. Unit staffing includes secretaries and technician support.

Qualifications

• Current Certifications Required:
• CSTFA (Certified Surgical Technologist First Assist)
• CFA (Certified First Assist) or RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assist)
• Strong technical skills and ability to assist across multiple surgical specialties
• Professional communication and teamwork
