Med/Surg Telemetry RN — Night Shift | Wilmington, NC
This Med/Surg Telemetry unit manages a diverse adult and geriatric patient population with diagnoses including diabetes, dementia, ia, COPD, sepsis, GI bleed, CHF, renal failure, encephalopathy, hip fracture, and various post-surgical recovery cases.
Shift & Schedule
- Nights: 18:45–07:15 (4x12-hour shifts; 36 or 48-hour weeks accepted)
- Contract length: 13–20 weeks | Start: September 28, 2026
- Every other weekend required
- Self-scheduling; up to 7 days pre-approved RTO (no holidays); must work 2 of 3 major holidays
Float & Other Requirements
- Float within the facility and potentially to a sister campus approximately 30 minutes away
- Storm/hurricane team participation may be required during catastrophic events
- No on-call requirement
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg or MS/Tele experience
- Active NC or Compact RN license (pending accepted for submission)
- Certifications: BLS, NIHSS
- Skills: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry remote monitoring, blood product administration, IV/PICC/central line management, phlebotomy, pre/post hemodialysis, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, wound care/wound vac, isolation/PPE, rapid response/code team participation
Preferred Qualifications
- ACLS, charge experience, tracheostomy care, ABG interpretation, post-angiogram/post-cardiac surgery/post-MI care, CBI, port access, bariatric surgery, CVA management, substance withdrawal, community hospital experience
Additional Details
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Scrubs: Navy blue or white
- First-time travelers welcome; local candidates accepted
- EKG competency testing required prior to start
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- COVID-19 vaccine not required
