Med/Surg Tele RN – Night Shift

Position Overview

The facility seeks experienced Med/Surg Tele RNs for a 13-week contract working night shifts (4x12 hours, 19:00–07:00). This is a fast-paced unit serving adult and geriatric patients with orthopedic and cardiac diagnoses.

Unit Details

You'll care for patients with orthopedic trauma, total joint replacements, fractures, and osteoarthritis. Night shift ratios are 6–7:1 (stretching to 8–10 if staffing is affected by call-outs). Patient Care Technicians support vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living.

Required Competencies

• Phlebotomy (mandatory)
• IV placement
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Cardiac drip management (non-titration)
• IV insulin protocols
• Heparin protocols
• Blood product administration
• Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
• Tracheostomy care
• Feeding tube care and management
• Peripheral line and wound care/wound vac
• BiPAP/CPAP management
• High-flow nasal cannula
• PCA pumps

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year RN experience (new graduates welcome)
• Current NY State RN license
• BLS and NIHSS certifications
• Willingness to float within the unit as needed
• Every-other-weekend schedule

• Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, respiratory, pharmacy, and rapid response
