Emergency Room RN — Adult ED | Night Shift | Rochester, NY

This 15-week travel contract places you in a high-volume adult emergency department managing the full spectrum of emergency diagnoses across adult and geriatric populations. The unit operates 24/7 with a dedicated pediatric ED and trauma suite, supported by a robust interdisciplinary team including respiratory services, rapid response, pharmacy, radiology, and social services.

Shift & Schedule

  • Nights, 4x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Every other holiday required, as needed

Certifications & Licensure

  • Active New York single-state RN license required at time of submission (NY is not a Compact state)
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required (valid NIHSS must be included with submission)
  • First-time travelers accepted; candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible

Required Clinical Skills

  • IV therapy: blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs
  • IV vasopressors; CPAP/BiPAP; ventilator management
  • Cardiac monitoring: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Emergency care: adult/pediatric presentations, gunshot wounds, ortho trauma, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, neuro-trauma, CVA/stroke
  • , isolation precautions, procedural sedation monitoring, acute psychiatric and suicidal patient management

Unit Details

  • Patient ratio: 1:5 | Adults and geriatrics
  • Floating within skillset is required
  • Scrub color: Any combination of navy blue and white
  • Minimum 2 years of ED experience; 1 year required

Contract Notes

  • Orientation: approximately 24 hours
  • Pre-approved time off: up to one block; no more than 10 days RTO total
  • Start date: September 29, 2026
