Emergency Department RN — Adult ED | Rochester, NY

13-Week Contract | 4x12-Hour Shifts | Nights & Evenings Rotation

This travel RN position is based in a busy adult emergency department managing the full spectrum of emergency diagnoses across adult and geriatric populations. The unit operates with a rotating schedule — alternating two weeks of evening shifts (3 PM–3 AM) and two weeks of night shifts (7 PM–7 AM).

Unit & Clinical Scope

The ED cares for a high-acuity, mixed patient population including stroke/CVA, neuro-trauma, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, cardiac dysrhythmias, drug overdose, acute psychosis, suicidal patients, gunshot wounds, orthopedic trauma, and STEMI presentations. Clinicians are expected to manage ventilated patients, administer IV vasopressors, perform procedural sedation monitoring, and respond to STEMI and stroke activations.

Shift & Scheduling Details

  • Rotating evenings/nights: 2 weeks on each (3 PM–3 AM / 7 PM–7 AM)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Every other holiday, as needed
  • Floating within skill set required
  • Up to 3 call-offs permitted per 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active New York Single State RN license (must be in hand at submission; NY is not Compact)
  • Minimum 1 year of ED experience
  • BLS, ACLS, and valid NIHSS required; PALS and TNCC preferred
  • Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible
  • No more than 10 days of pre-approved time off
